Background & Notes

Fafnir Otrson of Heimo Värivuoren
(Clan Coloured Mountain)

A bit of a gut, even for a dwarf: Not as grumpy as some dwarfs. Can be a bit silly at times. Born and raised in Orivesi*, a small city in the foothills of the Jyrkille Vuorille (Craggy Mountains) in western Nordvald about 20 miles from the border with Caldorne. Father was a blacksmith, mother's father was a Priest of Thoare at the court of Kuningas Paavo II, ruler of Nordvald (and grandfather of the current monarch, Kuningas Taneli the IV). One older brother, Gimlion, a soldier. One younger sister, Thanalin, married to Vindalfr. His favourite food is pork and apple sauce, and his favourite drink is cider with ale a close second. Fafnir was originally apprenticed to his father as a blacksmith, but the work was too dull for his keen intellect. He eventually went to the capital of Norvald and studied for the Priesthood of Thoare under the guidance of his grandfather, Anaar.

(*Orivesi means 'stallion water,' and refers to the wild, whitewater rapids that agitate the Orivesi River every spring and for most of the summer.)
