There are dozens of different coins and currency systems on Tamaranth, with coins made out of platinum, gold, silver, copper, brass, even iron, but the value is anybody's guess, varying from place to place and even day to day. However, one system that is generally accepted (like the dollar during the 20th century or the pound during the 19th) is the Tanalok Münze (plural: Münzen). The denominations are the Pfennig (or cp) the Silber Schilling (or sp, worth 10 cp) and the Gold Münze (or gp, worth 100 cp). The plural of Shilling is Schillinge, and of Pfennig, Pfennige. Since they are based on the value of the metal as well as the stability of the government, they are very standardized.

Also of importance is the monetary system of Assel-Vesdra. The basic unit of currency is the rustui, a copper coin worth one-half Pfennig.

• 500 rustuie = 10 celebie = 1 cantumalt (literally 'quarter-malt) or cantu, worth 25 Schillinge or 2 Münzen, 5 Schillinge
• 1000 rustuie = 20 celebie = 2 cantumaltie (cantuie) = 1 permalt (literally 'half-malt) or per, worth 50 Schillinge or 5 Münzen
• 2000 rustuie = 40 celebie = 4 cantumaltie (cantuie) = 2 permaltie (perie) = 1 malt, the highest denomination Assel-Vesdran coin, worth 10 Münzen

The Taceran monetary system is currently undergoing extreme disruption, instability and inflation. There are rumours that this situation has been artificially induced and manipulated by agents of Nacada. The coins of the realm, collectively called nobles, are named after the five Dukedoms of the Pentad. The current, and pre-war, exchange rates are officially:

• 1988: 1 Tin Tetwyvern = 1 Pfennig
• 1993: 5 Tin Tetwyverns = 1 Pfennig (commonly known as the tet)

• 1988: 1 Copper Rhydderch = 5 Pfennige
• 1993: 1 Copper Rhydderch = 1 Pfennig (commonly known as the rider)

• 1988: 1 Bronze Marros = 2 Schillinge, 5 Pfennige
• 1993: 1 Bronze Marros = 5 Pfennig (commonly known as the bronze, brown, bob or brownie)

• 1988: 1 Silver Marros = 1 Münze
• 1993: 1 Silver Marros = 2 Schillinge (commonly known as the marro)

• 1988: 1 Silver Glastonam = 5 Münzen
• 1993: 1 Silver Glastonam = 1 Münze (commonly known as the glassy or glasty)

• 1988: 1 Gold Ogath-Mallt = 25 Münzen
• 1993: No longer in circulation! If accepted at all, it is discounted to no more than 1 = 1 Münze (previously known as the mallt or ogie)

The basic monetary unit in Canterus is the Florin. They are exceptionally attractive coins, large, with artistic designs deeply and cleanly stamped, and sharply milled edges.

• 5 florins (copper) = 1/4 Pfennig
• 10 florins (copper) = 1/2 Pfennig
• 20 florins (bronze) = 1 Pfennig
• 50 florins (bronze) = 2 1/2 Pfennige
• 100 florins (nickle) = 5 Pfennige
• 200 florins (nickle) = 1 Schilling
• 500 florins (silver) = 2 Schillinge, 5 Pfennige
• 1000 florins (silver) = 5 Schillinge
• 2000 florins (silver and gold) = 1 Münze
• 5000 florins (silver and gold) = 2 Münzen, 5 Schillinge
• 10,000 florins (gold) = 5 Münzen
• 20,000 florins (gold) = 10 Münzen

Electrum, meaning the naturally occurring alloy of gold and silver, is widely used in jewellery and other whitesmithing, but is not used in coinage. Platinum is extremely rare in all applications.
