As a result of the relative wealth of Tuchseny, neither Kailan nor his siblings had to learn much in the way of survival skills; with his elder brothers set to inherit the family's trade wealth, Kailan joined the church of Crom as soon as he was old enough to enter their training, and has remained a faithful follower since. In the following years, he rose through the ranks both on account of his quick wit and insight, as well as his willingness to go out into the field to prove his ideas; he is, at this point, considered to be one of the more respected professors, with a particular interest in patterns of history, and how those patterns can be extrapolated from to improve the accuracy of predicting developments. Short for a half-elf at just over five feet, with tousled black hair, bright green eyes and a full beard, Kailan definitely favors his human father in looks; even his ears are barely tapered, merely elongated a little. Slender of build, he prefers the cap and gown of a secular scholar over the more ornate robes of a priest-professor of Crom, although he does display the Wheel of Crom proudly on a necklace. On formal occasions, he does generally appear in the full regalia of an ordained priest, rather than the academic form.
